ADVERTISING

Advertising is an action to promote selling by influencing or persuading people to buy a product. Advertising comes in variety of Medias for example, television, magazines, radios, and billboards. Some advertisement targets just specific group of people, while others are more general. However some advertisements are corruptive. They make us feel inferior, and let us “realize” that we need their products. Advertising, although comes in different forms, they all serves one main purpose, to persuade consumers. In advertising, there are three basic rhetorical appeals; ethos logos, and pathos. Ethos is form of persuasion that uses a credible source of information to convince their customer. Advertising has been one of the many methods that companies have used to broaden the market. Many companies have benefited from advertising and have increased their selling ratios. The purpose of advertising is to allow a company to communicate or introduce their product or services to the public. There are many methods of advertising to stimulate the public’s mind to attract them to a particular product or service.
Television has become one of the most popular venues for advertising because of the huge audience it reaches. The larger the audience a program draws, the higher the advertising rates are for each commercial. Programs such as “Friends”, “ER”, and “Will & Grace” have advertising rates priced above $300,000 for a 30-second spot.
